In March of 1915, Fire Comapny No. 1 put a committee together to plan a subscription service to be able to fund the purchase of a modern, automobile chemical fire engine.

Purchased in May of 1916 from the La France Fire Engine Company of Elmira, NY at the cost of $2,8000, the first motorized fire apparatus in Department history was hoped to be deliverd in time for the June Bucks County Firemen's Convention being held in neighboring Perkasie.
