Southbound Route 309 Accident

Just before rush hour this morning, Engine 27-1 was dispatched with Engine 58 for a reported tractor trailer truck accident on the Southbound side of the 309 bypass, in the area of Ridge Road in Company 58’s coverage area. Chief 27 arrived first to find a tandem tractor trailer with 1 of the trailers overturned below Lawn Avenue in the 27-73 Box. Engine 27-1, Utility 27, and Engine 58 worked to secure the hazards, and awaited the heavy wrecker to upright the trailer. Fire Police remained on scene for extended period of time to keep the bypass closed.

"New" Command Vehicles

Recently, the Department purchased 2 used Chevy Tahoe command vehicles from the Morrisville Fire Company, Station 98. After radio installations and new graphics, Command 1 and Command 2 have been put into service and are responding to emergencies the SFD is dispatched to.

Command 3, the red Tahoe previously driven by Chief 27, will also have new graphic work done and will be operated by the Assistant Chief.

Firefighter I Graduates

On Tuesday, May 17, ten members of the Sellersville Fire Department received their National Firefighter 1 Certification at a graduation ceremony held at the Bucks County Community College’s main campus in Newtown, PA.

These certificates are only awarded after successful completion of a grueling 5 month, 200 hour, program consisting of both academic and “hands on” training. The curriculum covered topics as various as hazardous materials, ropes & ladders, structural burn, and general fire ground operations.

The first picture shows the ten proud graduates. The second picture shows the graduates along with some of the officers and members of the department who attended in full dress uniform to honor, and show appreciation for the efforts of these fine young men.

We salute their outstanding efforts and dedication to serve our local community.

Early this morning, Sellersville Volunteers and mutual aid Departments were alerted to Main Street and Green Street in the Borough for a reported apartment fire. Chief 27 arrived to have fire showing from the C/D corner of the house and everyone reported to be out. Engine 27-1 arrived and stretched a line to extinguish a bulk of the fire. Due to the deck being compromised and the house being balloon construction, a secondary hand line was stretched from side A to be able to access the interior and extinguish the remaining fire.

Great job to all units working to keep the fire in check.

Units on scene: Engine 27-1, Tower 27, Tower 26, Rescue 26, Engine 59-1, Squirt 18, Engine 58 for RIT, as well as Medic 151, Montgomery Engine 75, Air 75, and Squad 72.

Just afer 0730 hours, Tower 27 was dispatched on Tactical Box 59-07 for a reported dwelling fire in the 300 block of Schoolhouse Road in Hilltown Township. Assistant 59 was the first to arrive and had heavy smoke and fire showing from side C and the garage. Tower 27 and Engine 59-1 arrived simultaneously, and Tower’s crew advanced their hand line to the interior and were faced with heavy fire conditions. Multiple handlines, a blitzfire line, the Tower’s masterstream were placed in service to bring the fire under control. Crews remained on scene for an extended period of time due to extensive overhaul.

The Sellersville Volunteer Fire Department would like to thank the following local, and surrounding, businesses for donating raffle prizes for our annual banquet that was held on February 6th.

The theme for this year’s banquet was “Giving Back to Our Dedicated Members.”

Each member of the department in attendance went home with a gift that was from our generous sponsors listed below. Our sponsors were able to make our banquet a success this year.

Thank You from all of the members of the Sellersville Fire Dept. for your continued support, and appreciation, for all that we do
