At 0241 hours, Station 27 along with Rescue and Tower 26 (Perkasie), Engine 59-1 (Sivlerdale), and Montgomery County Engine 75-1 (Telford) were dispatched to 218 South Main for a building fire. Battalion 27 (Louden) went on scene with smoke coming from the roof and established command. Wagon 27 went responding and hit the hydrant to lay in. The Wagon’s crew forced entry and stretched a 2 1/2 inch hoseline to the kitchen where the fire was found to be contained to a deep fryer and was knocked with an ABC extinguisher.

Route 152 MVA

At 0642 hours, Station 27 was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident with 1 patient possibly ejected and another possibly trapped. Deputy 27 (Kelly) went on scene and reported negative ejection and entrapment. Engine 27-1 went on scene and split their crew to secure both vehicles. Crews were on scene for just over a half hour.

Vehicle Fire North Bound 309 Bypass

At approximately 1100 hours, Station 27 was dispatched for a vehicle fire. As Engine 27-1 and Lieutenant 27 (Lindsay) went responding with a crew of 7, Deputy 27 (Brennan) went on scene with a well off vehicle. Engine 27-1 pulled past the vehicle and stretched an 1 3/4” handline to knock the fire.

Halloween Roll-Over

At approximately 0700 hours, Station 27 was dispatched for an accident with fire on the north bound side of the 309 bypass at the Lawn Avenue exit. As Engine 27-1 went responding with a crew of 7, the call was changed from a car fire to an auto extrication and Squirt 18 (Quakertown) and Rescue 26 (Perkasie) were added the call. Engine 27-1’s crew took the driver side door as Wagon 27’s crew assisted the medics with patient care.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm

At 1630 hours, Station 27 was dispatched to a CO alarm on Old Bethlehem Pike Between Forrest and East Rockhill Roads. Wagon 27 went on scene and began taking readings throughout the house. After searching the house, the source was the home furance found in the basement. With high levels of CO throughout the house, Tower 27 had their crew set up fans in the front door and at the bilco doors in the rear of the house.

Rescue Box 27-25

At 0811 hours, Engine 27-1 was dispatched with Grandview Medic 151 to standby at an accident with injuries on Bethlehem Pike and Old Mill Road. Engine 27-1 went on scene and took a stand position at the Pizza Pub due to the condition of the telephone pole that vehicle had hit. Upon Police arrival, they found the driver of the car pinned between the seat and the steering wheel column. Assistant 27 (Kelly) set up command and added Rescue 26 (Perkasie) to assist with the extrication of the patient. Engine 27-1’s crew had the doors off and windshield cut as the Rescue went on scene to extricate the patient. The Engine remained on scene as Jerry’s Auto Body had the car loaded. Fire Police had the road shut down most of the morning until the pole was replaced.

Fire Prevention Open House

The Sellersville Fire Department’s annual open house is being held this Saturday, October 22nd from 12-4pm. There will be demonstrations, fire truck rides, smoke house trailer, and much more. Come out for a fun filled day with the kids!

Pink for October

Do you know that 1 in 12 women will develop some form of invasive breast cancer in their lifetime? The Sellersville Fire Department and it’s members want everyone to know the statistics. During the month of October, the Sellersville Fire Department will be using “pink” hand tools as they perform their job and provide services to our community. This idea was developed and implemented by Lieutenant Nick Lindsay and Engineer Matt Castelli, and some of the younger members. Almost everyone in our Department has been effected, or know someone that has been effected by breast cancer. Using the “pink” colored hand tools helps us remind everyone we come into contact with about the seriousness of breast cancer. It also brings a little joy to breast cancer survivors in knowing someone is thinking about their future and about the future of all women and men. Yes, I said men because cancer can also strike the male gender, its not nearly as common for men as it is for women, but can stike men none the less.
