During the month of October, the Sellersville Fire Department will be using “pink” hand tools as they perform their job and provide services to our community. This idea was developed and implemented by Lieutenant Nick Lindsay and Engineer Matt Castelli, and some of the younger members. Almost everyone in our Department has been effected, or know someone that has been effected by breast cancer. Using the “pink” colored hand tools helps us remind everyone we come into contact with about the seriousness of breast cancer. It also brings a little joy to breast cancer survivors in knowing someone is thinking about their future and about the future of all women and men. Yes, I said men because cancer can also strike the male gender, its not nearly as common for men as it is for women, but can stike men none the less. If you would like further information about breast cancer or detection of breast cancer, please visit “Susan G. Komen for the Cure” at www.komen.org.
