Early Morning Car Fire

Shortly before 2:00AM, SFD volunteers were dispatched to the 200 block of Keystone Dr in Hilltown Township for a car fire. Chief and Assistant 27 arrived to find a parked car with an engine compartment fire. The crew from Engine 27-1 (Battalion McDonald) extinguished the fire and checked for extension into the passenger compartment. Our fire police assisted with traffic control on the roadway near the incident.

SLICK ROADWAY

Early this evening, the SFD was dispatched for a fuel spill in the 400 block of Lawn Avenue in Sellersville Borough. Police were originally dispatched for a 3 vehicle accident, which all 3 cars had slid off the roadway. Engine 27-1 (LT Gray) and Utility 27 used what oil dry they had, but due the large area of the road affected, Public Works was called to come spread stone cinders to help solve the issue.

Outbuilding Fire

SFD Volunteers and mutual aid were dispatched to the 1200 block of Lawn Avenue in West Rockhill Township for a reported outbuilding fire with the caller reporting visible flames. Chief 27 (Wagner) and Assistant 27 (Conicelli) arrived and had an abandoned structure in the rear of the property still burning. Engine 27-1 (LT Gray) arrived to make quick work of what was left of the building while the Wagon assisted the with pulling the remaining remnants apart.

TRAIN DERAILMENT

At 1438 hours, tactical box 27-14 was dispatched for a reported train derailment in Sellersville Borough. Shortly after Deputy 26 (Boshell) went responding, BCR advised the best access to the train was going to be from Jessica Lane off of Ninth Street.

Deputy 26, Deputy 59 (Chavous), and Engine 27-1 (LT Gray) all arrived on Jessica simultaneously. The Chief’s climbed up the grade to the tracks to meet the engineer and conductor of the train and found that 3 refrigerated box cars carrying butter had rolled over the tracks and were leaking diesel fuel from their reefer units. Engine 27-1’s crew placed a ladder for better access and deployed 600’ of 3” line to their high rise bag as a protection line in case of any fire, as Chief 27 (Wagner) arrived and established Sellersville Command.

Montgomery County Rescue 74 (Souderton) and Ladder 75 (Telford) made access from the Church Street side of the tracks from the cemetery with Utility and Hazmat 27, where they deployed booms and absorbent prodructs to contain the diesel fuel from traveling further down the creek.

SFD units remained on scene until 2130 hours until the cleanup crews arrived to begin the long cleanup process.

Units on scene - Engine 27-1, Utility and Hazmat 27, Rescue 26, Rescue 59, Rescue 74, Engine 74-1, Ladder 75, Hazmat 89-2 from the County Hazmat team, and Bucks 1 (County Command Vehicle)

Other agencies on scene - Perkasie Police, Sellersville and Perkasie Emergency managment representatives, Grandview Health Medic 151, Pennsylvania State Police, PA DEP, and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

BETHLEHEM PIKE EXTRICATION

At 0837 hours, the Bucks County Emergency Communications Center dispatched Engine 27-1 and Rescue 59 from Silverdale on rescue box 27-30 for an auto extrication on Bethlehem Pike in Hilltown Township. Numerous callers were reporting a 2 vehicle head on accident with heavy entrapment in one of the vehicles. Deputy 59 arrived first to confirm the reports as units began going in service with disentanglement of the driver.

ENGINE ASSISTS TRUMBAUERSVILLE

At 1339 hours, Engine 27-1 was dispatched to cover Station 58 of Trumbauersville while the operated on a dwelling fire on Upper Ridge Road in Milford Township. Shortly after going enroute, Engine 27-1 was diverted to the scene and operated as the supply Engine drafting from the Tanker porta ponds at the end of the driveway to supply the scene.

Engine Covers Richlandtown

At 1608 hours, the Richlandtown Fire Company and other mutual aid Departments were called to a barn fire on Apple Road in Haycock Township. While their units were on scene, Engine 27-1 was dispatched to cover Station 36’s local if any other calls for that area came in.

Animal Rescue

This afternoon, Utility 27 went to the 200 block of Grove Circle in the Borough to investigate for a report of a dog trapped under a tree. While responding, Police requested a jack was needed to raise the tree up and off the small dog. Engine 27-1 then responded and worked with the Utility to free the dog from under the tree.
