At 3:17 PM, Station 27 was dispatched to the report of a two vehicle accident with injuries at Forrest Road and Bethlehem Pike in West Rockhill Township. Shortly after the initial dispatch, the assignment was upgraded to a vehicle rescue based on additional information that the driver of one vehicle was entrapped. Wagon 27 arrived and immediately pulled a dry 1 3/4" line for fire protection if needed and started with vehicle stabilization. SFD volunteers used our Holmatro rescue tools to strategically cut certain parts and pieces of the vehicle in an attempt to remove the passenger side doors and the roof. Rescue 18 from West End Fire Company arrived and assisted in completing the removal process. Once the doors and roof were removed, the awaiting ambulance crew from Grand View Health could access the patient. Fire Police Officers maintained a secure scene around the area of the incident. Local roads were closed for approximately one hour while crews operated at the scene and Pennridge Regional Police investigated the cause. |
