Yesterday afternoon, Sellersville Volunteers along with Montgomery County Squad 72 (Tylersport) were dispatched for a “stand by” at an accident on the S bend on Ridge Valley Road in West Rockhill.

The initial report was for an overturned fuel truck with the driver already out of the vehicle. Assistant and Deputy 27 arrived to confirm the report and had Rescue 27 approach the scene from the south side of the incident and Squad 72 come from the north. Rescue 27 deployed a 400’ protection line while Squad 72’s crew assisted in accessing the integrity of the fuel vessel and determined it was not compromised or leaking.

Due to the nature, the incident was treated as a hazardous materials incident bringing Chemical 17 (Quakertown Co. #1), Tanker 58 (Trumbauersville) and Tanker 72 for water supply, and Ladder 18 (West End) for RIT/backup suppression team, if needed.

Fire Police closed down the roadway for Dunne’s towing to upright/tow the vehicle with their heavy wrecker and units were available a short time later.
