Since incorporation in 1888, the Sellersville Fire Department has been a 100% volunteer organization run by community driven individuals. Much like other volunteer fire companies across the Nation, our number of volunteers has been on the decline since the 1970s. In short, WE NEED YOU to be a part of our team.
Our members all have varying professions. Whether they are lawyers, bankers, paramedics, etc, we each offer our unique skills and volunteer our time to run the fire department.
MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS
We offer different memberships options as well. If you are interested in the operational (fire call) side of the fire department, we offer 4 different options.
Active Membership- Fights fires, performs rescues, and responds to all emergency requests for service by the department. Also assists with fundraising, fire prevention, and other station related duties. Firefighter candidates must complete Firefighter 1 within 1 year of acceptance by the Department. Prior certifications and experience are considered. All training and equipment are provided by and paid for by the Department.
Fire Police- Shuts down roadways and provide safety for our firefighters at emergency scenes. Also participates in fundraising, fire prevention and other station related duties. Prior certifications and experience are considered. All training and equipment are provided by and paid for by the Department.
Junior Firefighter- (age 16 to 18) Does all of the things required as a firefighter to prepare them to become an active member once they turn 18. Must have parental permission and maintain good grades in school. Does not get involved in actual firefighting, but assists in a support mode at emergency scenes. Same training and service requirements as a firefighter but will attend Firefighting for Juniors instead of the firefighter 1 class.
Day (Part time) Member- If you work in our first due area and already have firefighting certifications, we accept firefighters who can only respond to emergency requests during the daytime but is not around for Tuesday night drills and fundraising events. Day members are still required to keep up state required training.
If running fire calls or controling traffic at emergency scenes isn't something that interests you, we also offer an Associate Membership role.
Associate Member - The associate members assist in fundraising and/or administrative functions at the firehouse. They do not partake in actual firefighting related activies. This is a great opportunity for the community oriented individual that wants to volunteer their service for the community, but not fight fires or perform rescues. All types of backgrounds desired.
