In 1950, the Department purchased this WWII-era Army surplus tanker at a cost of $3000, being the fire truck of its kind in the area.
Arriving in late January/early February, this tanker had to be stored in the George Frank garages until the firehouse addition was built to fit it inside
Having a canvas roof, it served for about 6 years before being replace by a more modern tanker.
