At 0945, Sellersville Volunteers with assistance from Tylersport, were dispatched for a report of a 2 vehicle accident on the southbound side of the 309 Sellersville bypass at mile marker 23.8. Assistant 27 (C. Wagner) and Chief 27 (K. Wagner) went responding and were advised that 1 vehicle was overturned in the ditch and another had spun out due to icy road conditions. Chief 26 (Trotter) of Perkasie was responding to a call in their local and stopped to check on any injuries.
Rescue 27 took a blocking position and split their crew to confirm everyone was out and worked to secure the batteries. Squad 72 arrived a short time later and took a second blocking position. The drivers of both vehicles were in the care of Grand View EMS and with no other fire department services needed, the scene was turned over to the Pennsylvania State Police.
With measurable amounts of snow forecasted for our area this Sunday into Monday, please exercise extreme caution while driving if you have to be out! The 309 bypass and other areas of our first due are notorious for icing over much faster than others.
