Apartment Fire on Main St.

Shortly before 1 A.M. on Saturday, companies were dispatched to an apartment fire in the 100 block of North Main St.  Rescue and Tower 26 (Perkasie), Engine 59 (Silverdale), Montco Tower 74 (Perseverance) and Montco Engine 72 (Tylersport) were automatically dispatched as mutual aid to assist Station 27.  Rescue 58 (Trumbauersville) was added as a RIT team upon a report of a working fire from the police department.  Battalion 27 (McDonald) got on scene with Battalion 27-1 (Wagner) with smoke coming from the balcony of a second floor apartment.  The crew from Engine 27-1 led by Lieutenant 27 (Louden) determined that the fire had extended into the wall, and companies went into service opening up to see the extent of the damage.  At this time, the assignment was held to the two engines from Station 27 and the Ladder Tower from Station 26.  Companies were on scene for 45 minutes to ensure the fire had not spread to any other units, and to remove the smoke from the second and third floors.  Fire police from Stations 27 and 26 diverted traffic on Main St. so units could operate safely.
