Southbound Route 309 Accident

Just before rush hour this morning, Engine 27-1 was dispatched with Engine 58 for a reported tractor trailer truck accident on the Southbound side of the 309 bypass, in the area of Ridge Road in Company 58’s coverage area. Chief 27 arrived first to find a tandem tractor trailer with 1 of the trailers overturned below Lawn Avenue in the 27-73 Box. Engine 27-1, Utility 27, and Engine 58 worked to secure the hazards, and awaited the heavy wrecker to upright the trailer. Fire Police remained on scene for extended period of time to keep the bypass closed.

Early this morning, Sellersville Volunteers and mutual aid Departments were alerted to Main Street and Green Street in the Borough for a reported apartment fire. Chief 27 arrived to have fire showing from the C/D corner of the house and everyone reported to be out. Engine 27-1 arrived and stretched a line to extinguish a bulk of the fire. Due to the deck being compromised and the house being balloon construction, a secondary hand line was stretched from side A to be able to access the interior and extinguish the remaining fire.

Great job to all units working to keep the fire in check.

Units on scene: Engine 27-1, Tower 27, Tower 26, Rescue 26, Engine 59-1, Squirt 18, Engine 58 for RIT, as well as Medic 151, Montgomery Engine 75, Air 75, and Squad 72.

At 1346 hours, Station 27 was dispatched to standby at an accident with the Medic unit at the intersection of Old Bethlehem Pike and Forrest Road in West Rockhill Township for a 2 vehicle T-Bone type accident. Police arrived to find the accident on Bethlehem Pike with 1 person trapped in the vehicle. The assignment was upgraded to a Rescue bringing Montgomery Squad 72 (Tylersport) and Rescue 26. Engine 27-1 (Chief Wagner) arrived and split their crew to stabilize the vehicle and began to extricate the patient by taking the passenger side doors. Rescue 26 arrived next and began to work on the driver side. Crews then took the roof of the vehicle to complete the extrication. The patient was transported by Medic 339 to Bergey’s Tires where they were flown by helicopter to a trauma center. Squad 72 had the LZ.

Around 1602, Montgomery County units were dispatched for a reported vehicle fire around mile marker 22 on the Northbound side of the 309 bypass. The vehicle was being towed behind a tow truck and finally came to a stop at the Bethlehem Pike merger at Route 309 in the Station 27 local. Engine 27-1 arrived to extinguish the fully involved car.

At 2325 hours, Stations 26 and 76 from the Perkasie Fire Company were alerted to the 1500 block of West Rock Road in East Rockhill Township for the reported dwelling fire. The inital caller reported the wood stove being on fire with another caller reporting a house on fire. Pennridge Regional Police arrived first on scene to report a well involved house. Engine 27-1 and Wagon 27 were just clearing an accident call on the 309 Bypass and were added to the assignment. The Engine was assigned to the dump site while the Wagon was assigned the Tanker fill site. SFD units flowed water for 3 hours and filled a total of 13 Tanker loads of water.

At 0209 hours, Tactical Box 27-26 was transmitted for a reported camper fire in the 1000 block of Anna Lane in West Rockhill Township. The inital report was called in by a neighbor reporting hearing an explosion and a camper being fully involved. Utility and Engine 27-1 arrived on scene to confirm the report of a 24’ camper fully involved. The Utility (Chief 27) took command while Engine 27-1 stretched an 1” 3/4 smoothbore hand line to extinguish the fire. Tanker 58 supplied Engine 27-1 with water and assisted with overhaul. Ladder 18 and Wagon 27 stoodby in manpower.

Before 0530 hours, Rescue box 58-33 was transmitted for an auto extrication reported to be in the southbound lanes of the 309 bypass north of the Perkasie/Lawn Avenue Exit in West Rockhill Township. Beginning this year, this section of the bypass is now a Trumbauersville box that brought Engine 27-1 northbound and Rescue 18 southbound. Battalion 17 and Chief 27 arrived on scene and reported there to be initially no entrapment. Rescue 18 arrived on the southbound side and Engine 27-1 arrived on the northbound side and pulled a protection line. Engine 58 arrived to assist Rescue 18 with a door pop that was ultimately needed for patient access. The Engine company was available within the half hour.

Northbound 309 Car Fire

During the rush hour commute, Station 27 was dispatched for a reported car fire on the northbound side of the 309 bypass. Battalion 26 was first to arrive and reported the fire to be in the northbound lanes just before Rich Hill Road in West Rockhill Township. Wagon 27 arrived shortly after to make a quick knock of the fire. Engine 27-1, Utility 27, and Rescue 26 assisted as well.
