TOWER AND WAGON ASSIST WEST END

At 1652 hours, SFD Volunteers were dispatched to assist the West End Fire Company of Quakertown, on a dwelling fire at Old Bethlehem Pike and Rich Hill Road in Richland Township. Battalion 18 (Wilhelm) arrived first to have smoke showing from a 2.5 story apartment building. Tower 27 (Captain Garges) responded and were directed to the C/D corner and ordered to start opening the roof. Before the Tower’s arrival, Wagon 27 (LT Gray) was dispatched to cover Station 17, but were redirected to the scene for additional manpower. The Wagon’s crew supplied the Tower with water, while their crew placed ladders and vented the D side.

A total of 3 SFD members were taken from the scene and transported to local hospitals. 2 were transported for heat exhaustion and another after being hit in the head with a master stream from a freak accident. All are in good spirits.

Special thanks to Montgomery Ladder 75 for standing by at the Station and for assisting in getting the Wagon and Tower back in service, as well as Rescue 60 for coming up to assist with anything else we may have needed.

WORKING FIRE IN THE BOROUGH

Early this morning, Sellersville Volunteers and mutual aid Departments were alerted to Main Street and Green Street in the Borough for a reported apartment fire. Chief 27 arrived to have fire showing from the C/D corner of the house and everyone reported to be out. Engine 27-1 arrived and stretched a line to extinguish a bulk of the fire. Due to the deck being compromised and the house being balloon construction, a secondary hand line was stretched from side A to be able to access the interior and extinguish the remaining fire.

Great job to all units working to keep the fire in check.

Units on scene: Engine 27-1, Tower 27, Tower 26, Rescue 26, Engine 59-1, Squirt 18, Engine 58 for RIT, as well as Medic 151, Montgomery Engine 75, Air 75, and Squad 72.
